How Dreamweaver inserts Flash multimedia

Source: Shangpin China | Type: website encyclopedia | Date: August 11, 2015
Generally, most multimedia files in web pages are created by Flash Website production And insert its file into the appropriate location of the document. At present, Flash is widely used in web pages and can replace other elements of multiple web pages, such as navigation bars, buttons, banners and movies.

Flash file type

The Flash element can be used regardless of whether the Flash software is installed on the user's computer. Before inserting Flash elements, you should first understand the following different types of Flash files.

Flash file (. fla)

The source files of all projects are created in the Flash program. This type of file can only be opened in Flash (not in Dreamweaver or browser). You can open a Flash file in Flash and export it as a SWF or SWT file for use in a browser.

Flash SWF file (. swf)

The compressed version of Flash (. fla) files has been optimized for viewing on the Web page. This file can be played in the browser and previewed in Dreamweaver, but it cannot be edited in Flash software. This file type is used for general Flash buttons, Banners, and Flash texts.

Flash template file (. swt)

These files enable you to modify and replace information in Flash SWF files. These files are used for Flash button objects and can modify templates with their own text or links to create custom SWFs to insert into documents.

Flash element file (. swc)

A Flash SWF file that can be merged into a Web page to create rich Internet applications. The Flash element has customizable parameters that can be modified to perform different application functions.

Flash video file format (. flv)

A video file that contains encoded audio and video data for transmission through Flash Player. For example, if you have QuickTime or Windows Media video files, you can use the encoder to convert the video files to FLV files.

Insert Flash

After inserting Flash content (SWF file and Shockwave movie) in the document window, you can preview it in the document window and browser.

1. Insert Flash animation

Ordinary Flash animations can be directly inserted into Dreamweaver documents after being edited in Flash software, and do not need to set too many parameters, so the method is very simple. For example, place the cursor at the position where the animation will be inserted, click the [Flash] button, select the Flash file, and a gray box will be displayed in the document with the Flash symbol, as shown in Figure 2-26.

2. Insert Flash button and text

For simple Flash buttons, users can create them directly in Dreamweaver. For example, click Flash on the Common tab of the Insert toolbar (or click the drop-down arrow of Media and Flash).

Then, the [Insert Flash Button] dialog box pops up, and the button style and other options are set, as shown in Figure 2-27. At this time, the created Flash button can be displayed in the document. Through this method, multiple buttons can be created to form a navigation bar, as shown in Figure 2-28.
 Insert Flash button and text

The method of creating Flash text is the same as that of inserting Flash button, except that the created Flash SWF file contains text content. In this way, you can use the designer to make a vector graphic movie of text.

For example, in the document window, place the insertion point where you want to insert Flash text. Click Flash Text in the Common tab. In the pop-up [Insert Flash Text] dialog box, enter the text content and set its format, as shown in Figure 2-29.
 Format flash text

At this time, the inserted Flash text information will be displayed in the document window, as shown in Figure 2-30. To modify or play the Flash text object, the steps are the same as those used to modify or play the Flash button.

3. Insert streaming media

Flash video content can be easily inserted into Web pages without using Flash authoring tools. Before you begin, you must have an encoded Flash video (FLV) file.

Insert the Flash video component in Dreamweaver to view the component in the browser and browse the Flash video content. For example, on the [Common] tab, click the [Multimedia] drop-down arrow, select the [Flash Video] option, and set parameters in the [Insert Flash Video] dialog box, as shown in Figure 2-31. At this time, the FLV file will be inserted into the document, and the video effect will be displayed through the browser, as shown in Figure 2-32.

In the [Insert Flash Video] dialog box, different parameters can be set. The detailed parameters are as follows.

Among them, progressive video download is to download the Flash video (FLV) file to the site viewer's hard disk, and then play it. Progressive download allows video files to start playing before the download is complete.

Streaming video is to stream Flash video content and play the content on the Web page after a short buffer time to ensure smooth playback.
