State Grid Beijing Electric Power Company is a subsidiary of State Grid Corporation of China, formerly known as Jingshi Huashang Electric Light Co., Ltd., which was founded in 1905. Before 2003, as a direct subordinate unit of North China Electric Power Group Corporation, it implemented the management of "revenue and expenditure in two lines" according to local and municipal companies; In 2003, it became the authorized operation and independent accounting branch of North China Electric Power Group, and was directly managed by the State Grid Corporation of China as a provincial company; In 2008, it became an independent legal entity.

As the largest public utility in the capital, State Grid Beijing Electric Power Company is responsible for the planning and construction, operation management, power sales and power supply services of the power grid within the area of 16400 square kilometers in Beijing.
