The National Key Laboratory of Dairy Biotechnology is the only enterprise national key laboratory in the dairy industry. It was established in 2010 relying on Bright Dairy Co., Ltd. Closely centering on the national dairy industry development strategic goal, aiming at the world's dairy industry science and technology frontier, combining the industry development law and enterprise demand, focusing on major key and common technical issues in the dairy industry development, systematic, supporting and engineering research and development of advanced dairy processing technology, focusing on the development of raw milk and dairy product quality safety control, new dairy starter theory and technology The research work on the theory and technology of functional dairy products, the theory and technology of new cheese and its by-products, forms a batch of technologies and products with core competitiveness, promotes the integration of science and technology and industrialization demonstration, leads the scientific and technological progress and leapfrog development of the industry, and produces significant economic and social benefits, It is of great significance to change the homogenization of domestic dairy products and break the monopoly position of foreign dairy products. With accurate positioning, clear research direction and prominent focus, the laboratory has become a leader in the scientific and technological development of China's dairy industry.

On May 30, 2018, in the evaluation results of 99 national key laboratories of enterprises released by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the "National Key Laboratory of Dairy Biotechnology" built by Bright Dairy won the "National Key Laboratory of Excellent Enterprises", ranking first in the agricultural field.

The key laboratory now has 8 professor level senior engineers, 34 senior engineers, 87 engineers, 16 doctors and 100 masters. The laboratory R&D personnel are young and energetic, and more than 50% of them are under 35 years old. The R&D personnel have a wide professional structure, including food science, microbiology, food engineering, analytical chemistry, biochemistry, dairy science, fermentation engineering, genetics and packaging materials from Fudan University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Jiangnan University and other well-known universities. In view of the specific status of the laboratory, we have jointly trained postdoctoral and graduate students with Shanghai Jiaotong University, Shanghai University, Shanghai Ocean University and other universities, and served as mobile personnel in key laboratories. Professor Wang Xingguo, School of Food, Jiangnan University, was invited as a guest professor.

Guangming College, the supporting unit, will arrange professional training on professional skills, management skills and other professional qualities every year. According to its own characteristics and needs, key laboratories will contact third-party professional institutions for professional knowledge and skills training every year according to the actual needs of R&D personnel. Through team building in recent years, it has cultivated 2 national millions of talents, 1 Shanghai scientific and technological elite, 2 Shanghai leading talents, 4 Shanghai outstanding technical leaders, 1 scientific and technological elite, 2 scientific and technological talents, and 10 Shanghai young scientific and technological stars.
