TechWeb reported on February 3 that the case of Youku suing Tudou for unfair competition had been accepted by the Haidian Court a few days ago.

In January 2012, Youku's Heyi Information Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd. filed an unfair competition lawsuit against Shanghai Quandou Network Technology Co., Ltd. The company sued that the defendant held a press conference on December 16, 2011 and announced that it would claim 150 million yuan of copyright compensation to the plaintiff. Many media followed up the publicity and reports, which led to the decline of Youku's share price and caused serious economic losses to Youku.

In December 2011, there was a copyright dispute between the video website Youku and Tudou. On December 16, Tudou held a press conference in China Hotel, announcing that it formally proposed copyright compensation of 150 million yuan to the plaintiff, and would complain to the relevant national ministries and commissions about the plaintiff, asking the relevant competent authorities to revoke the plaintiff's business qualifications.

Youku believed that Tudou's move was intended to hype. The video content of the press conference was set in the way of prominent titles on Tudou and reprinted by most websites, which constituted a defamation of the plaintiff's goodwill. Youku asked the defendant to delete relevant video content and reports, publicly apologize, eliminate the impact, and compensate economic losses of 4.8 million yuan.

The announcement of the Beijing Court shows that the Haidian Court has recently accepted the case of unfair competition dispute between the plaintiff Heyi Information Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd. and the defendant Shanghai Quandou Network Technology Co., Ltd. At present, the case is under further trial.
