The application of CPM in power plant boiler overhaul is introduced below.
With the development of electric power industry, the number of high parameter and large capacity units is increasing, the scale of overhaul is becoming larger and larger, the amount of overhaul work is large, the construction technology is complex, and the duration is long, which brings many special details and problems. Therefore, in the overhaul construction, only the overall arrangement of the overhaul process items, tasks, equipment and personnel can ensure the smooth progress of the project. In recent years, power plants around the country have begun to apply the advanced technology of network planning in overhaul management, which has achieved obvious results and accumulated some experience. It generally adopts the positive type of the overall planning method, namely the critical path method, to prepare the construction schedule. This method enables us to grasp the interrelationship between the tasks that must be completed in the plan, find out the main contradiction lines and main contradiction links (i.e. key processes) that control the maintenance progress in the intricate construction network diagram, and calculate the maneuver time of each process on the non critical path, so as to find a balanced dynamic force plate, Effectively control and ensure the completion of key processes, so as to ensure quality and quantity, shorten the construction period and reduce costs.

The application of CPM in the overhaul of boiler 6 in a power plant is listed below. Boiler 6 is a domestic 130T/H liquid slag extractor. In this overhaul, in addition to the standard overhaul, a lot of special items with workload are added. For example, replacing the superheater tubes, replacing more than 50% of the economizer tubes, replacing and reinstalling all the anti-wear sleeves of the air preheater, replacing some water-cooled wall tubes at the bottom of the furnace and repairing the bottom of the furnace, there are still many changes to be made. According to the maintenance force in the plant, the superior approved the overhaul period as two months. Faced with the situation of maximum work, limited maintenance personnel, and short overhaul period, the plant conducted careful research and determined to apply the critical path method in construction management. For the whole overhaul project, the man hour quota was estimated and the network diagram was prepared in detail and comprehensively. According to the network diagram, coordinate and cooperate in the construction, and comprehensively and reasonably arrange the project, manpower and material resources. The overhaul task was successfully completed by grasping the main contradiction, taking time on the critical path, and saving manpower and material resources on the non critical path. It has achieved remarkable results in terms of quality and quantity, consumption reduction and construction period shortening. The calculation period of the network diagram is five days shorter than the specified period, and in the actual maintenance, the period is five days earlier than the calculation value of the network diagram.
