Dreamweaver preferences:

The preferred parameters of Dreamweaver CS6 can configure the functions of Dreamweaver to meet the developers' own habits. Preferences can control the general appearance and behavior of the Dreamweaver user interface. They also include options related to specific functions, such as layers, style sheets, displaying HTML and JavaScript code, external editors, and previewing in browsers.

To open the Preferences dialog box, you can choose Edit>Preferences, or you can use the shortcut Ctrl+U. The interface is shown in the following figure.

General: Preferences are used to control the general appearance of Dreamweaver.

AP： Element preferences can set the display mode and appearance of AP elements.

CSS style: Preferences control how Dreamweaver writes code that defines CSS styles. CSS styles can be written in shorthand, which some people find easier to use. However, some older browsers do not interpret shorthand correctly.

Invisible elements: Preferences specify the kind of element that is visible when you select the View>Visualization Assistant>Invisible Elements command.

Code prompt: Preferences enable you to quickly insert label names, attributes, and values as you type code in Code view or the Quick Label Editor.

Code rewriting: The preference parameter is used to control whether Dreamweaver will correct (or overwrite) some technically illegal code according to the user specified code rewrite preferences when opening a document.

Code format: The preferences are used to guide Dreamweaver to set the code format.

Code Color: Preferences specify the color of labels and code elements for general categories, such as the color of labels or JavaScript identifiers associated with forms.

Preview in browser: Preferences define the main browser and candidate browsers and their settings.

Copy/Paste: The preference parameter is used to set whether to retain the original format when the user pastes text from other applications to the design view.

typeface: It refers to the balanced font, fixed font and code font corresponding to various languages.

File comparison: Used to refer to a third-party program for text comparison.

File Type/Editor: Allows users to specify editors for each file type.

New document: It is used to specify the default document type, extension and default code when users create new documents.

Mark color: Enables you to customize the colors Dreamweaver uses to identify template areas, library items, third-party labels, layout elements, and code.

Status bar: It is used to set various display information of the status bar.

Site: Used to set relevant parameters for the file panel.

Accessibility: Preferences are used to control which objects are displayed when inserting accessibility properties.

Verification procedure: The preference parameter is used to set the parameters related to code verification. For example, when the document does not explicitly specify DOCTYPE, which standard should be referred to for verification.
