Yanchang Petroleum has a long history. In 1905, the Qing government approved the establishment of the "Yanchang Petroleum Plant" in Yanchang County, Shaanxi Province. In 1907, it drilled the first oil well on land in China, ending the history of no oil production on land in China. Yanchang Petroleum has made important contributions to China's revolution and economic construction, and is known as the "oil mine of meritorious officials". Since the reform and opening up, especially after the restructuring in 1998 and 2005, Yanchang Petroleum has stepped onto the fast lane of sustainable development. In 2007, the crude oil output exceeded 10 million tons; In 2010, the sales revenue exceeded 100 billion yuan; In 2013, it became one of the world's top 500 enterprises; In 2016, it completed 11.27 million tons of oil and gas equivalent, processed 13.31 million tons of crude oil, produced 4.59 million tons of chemicals, and had a total assets of 31.6 billion yuan at the end of the year. Its operating income and financial contribution have remained the first in Shaanxi Province and among the top local enterprises in China for many consecutive years. It has won many honors, such as the Third China Industrial Award, the National May Day Labor Award, and Shaanxi Advanced Enterprise in Performing Social Responsibilities.
