The art discipline of Beijing Normal University has a history of nearly one hundred years, with a unique position, a long history and an excellent academic style. The College of Arts and Media was established in 2002, which is the first unique college in China where all arts disciplines converge and art and media are combined for academic and creative development.

The college has the first batch of "Postdoctoral Research Mobile Stations in Art" and the first batch of first-class doctoral programs in art. After the establishment of the new art category, there are two first level doctoral programs in "drama and film and television" and "art theory", and four first level master programs in music and dance and fine arts. Film science is a national key (cultivation) discipline, and art theory, drama and film and television science are key disciplines in Beijing.
