　　 1. Design for beauty

When browsing high-end website designs, logos or posters, they will tell themselves, "Well, this may be better." Designers should always consider users. Are they used to the current design, and will they hate it if they make changes? Designing just to improve aesthetics is tricky. This is more difficult than re adding features or information, because redesign means changing identity. Now, we will focus on website design, but please remember that this applies to all things that can be designed. Why do people redesign web design? There are two reasons: 1. The existing design is very bad; 2. It needs a new appearance. One of the reasons is that redesign is the most common reason, but it is not so difficult, because people will see improvements and may like the new design. Remember that you are redesigning it to make it easier to access and make things better than before. The second reason is the most difficult. It is not a good habit to redesign in order to keep fresh. If the previous design is loved by people and changes are introduced suddenly, people may hate 50% of the changes, which may lead to a sharp decline in the number of readers.

There is no illusion here. It is as simple as most news websites. In fact, if you browse news websites, you may feel dizzy at first because everything seems to be scattered. These websites take a long time to adapt, but once you know the basic navigation, everything will be fine. A perfect example is Reddit. More than three years ago, when I first entered this website, I said to myself, "Man, the design of this website is shocking." But after I stayed there for a few minutes and hours, I got used to these things. I would rather have it than keep the fancy colors, logos and other things unchanged. Why? Because the purpose is to read, share and view different media from external sources. Another perfect example is e-commerce websites, such as management systems and eBay. I think you already know where I'm going. Designing for functions is more serious.

The question of redesign usually has nothing to do with the difficulty of the existing design, but the question of "Can we improve it?". Yes, the question is whether the redesign will improve the situation. In art, there is no finished product. Everything was abandoned. No art is perfect. But when is the right time to pull out the brush and touch the canvas again? Even for most designers I know, this is also a gray area. Why redesign? It looks good. You have achieved your goal. If you do too much, you may suddenly change your audience. As you may encounter, people tend to refuse to change. However, there is a way to introduce changes without angering people, that is to gradually change things rather than completely update them. Take Facebook for example. In the past few years, incredible changes have taken place in the layout. For example, the recent update of chat boxes has also achieved some success, but they have not alienated existing users. But I didn't answer the question "Why redesign?". When functions are needed, they need to be redesigned, which will change the layout of the whole design, but only if you can adapt to the site well and then redesign. As I mentioned in the last article, the purpose of the redesign is to make it easier for users to use.

Like people, artists and their masterpieces are unique works. These works of art have their own personalities, and the audience may not be sure of their "usefulness". For an artist, his/her creation may be a masterpiece, but for others? Take Digg's redesign as an example. A few years ago, this was a big news because they thought redesign was a good choice for them, but they lost a lot of users, but for "old style" Digg users, this is really not. If the design is incorrect, the redesign process will seriously affect things.
